Job summary

Pediatric Developmental Services (PDS) seeks a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our staff and support K-12 students in a vibrant Newark school. You will influence student outcomes through individualized planning and close collaboration with families and school teams.

You will develop IEPs, implement effective instructional strategies, and communicate progress to families and administrators, while helping create a safe, engaging classroom environment in a supportive community.

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Experience working with K-12 students is required.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute Individualized Education Plans (IEP) for each of the students in your care
• Communicate with other staff and family members about each student's progress and struggles
• Prepare detailed lesson plans and submit them to administrators for approval
• Participate in IEP meetings as scheduled by the school
• Use individualized reinforcement techniques to keep each student on the path toward greatness
• Invite family members to participate in each student's educational progress
• Create and distribute progress reports quarterly
• Confer with on-site therapist over disciplinary and behavioral issues with students
• Create a safe, productive classroom environment
