• Must hold or be eligible for Virginia teaching license in special education.
• Master's degree in special education preferred.
• Experience with data collection and evidence-based practices.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect instructional support to students in a positive environment.
• Employs special educational strategies and techniques during instruction to improve development.
• Instructs students in academic subjects using multi-sensory approaches.
• Plans and conducts activities for a balanced program of instruction and observation.
• Establishes and enforces rules for behavior and procedures for learning.
• Meets with parents to discuss progress and IEPs.
• Maintains accurate student records and prepares required reports.
• Develops plans for communication and monitoring in inclusive settings.
• Supervises paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom.
• Maintains professional competence through staff development.
