Job summary

Adelphi seeks a qualified Special Education Teacher to provide instructional services in a San Antonio, Texas school setting. The role includes developing IEPs, participating in ARD Committee processes, and ensuring student health, safety, and continuity of care according to district requirements.

The candidate will implement individualized instruction, monitor progress, and collaborate with general education staff and families to support students with special needs throughout the school day.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements.
• Core Subjects EC-6 with STR, Core Subjects EC-6, Generalist EC-6, or equivalent core content certification.
• Ability to perform Crisis Prevention & Intervention (CPI) restraints.

Responsibilities

• Provide special education students with learning activities designed to support intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
• Develop and modify curricula, lessons, and instructional materials to match student ability levels.
• Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop and follow IEPs through the ARD Committee process.
• Initiate, conduct, and attend ARD meetings for assigned students.
• Manage student behavior and administer discipline, including crisis intervention and physical restraint per CPI techniques as necessary.
• Provide or supervise personal care, medical care, and feeding of students as stated in the IEP.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
• Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
