Job summary

Rivermont Schools is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support students with emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges. You will create an engaging, inclusive classroom and design evidence-based lessons aligned with IEPs.

This role emphasizes collaboration with behavior specialists, therapists, and families to promote academic and personal growth, with ongoing assessment and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
• Eligibility for or possession of Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) certification with endorsement in special education or adaptive curriculum
• Strong instructional, communication, and classroom management skills
• Valid Virginia driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with Virginia Standards of Learning and individualized education programs (IEPs)
• Adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs using research-based strategies and behavior analytic principles
• Collaborate with behavior specialists, therapists, and families to support academic and behavioral progress
• Assess student performance and adjust instruction to promote mastery and engagement
• Maintain accurate documentation of student data, progress, and compliance with state and school requirements
