Job summary

Qualifications

• Possess, or be eligible for, a Maryland Special Education teaching certificate.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
• Knowledge of the local curriculum and effective instructional practices.
• Ability to reflect multiple perspectives and multi-cultural education.
• Ability to integrate technology into the curriculum.
• Proficiency in Maryland Teacher Technology Standards.
• Strong communication with administrators, staff, students, and families.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction and instructional support to students with disabilities and general education teachers.
• Prepare for IEP meetings and manage cases for assigned students.
• Interpret formal and informal assessments to guide instruction.
• Collect data on student performance to improve outcomes.
• Administer and interpret formal assessments as appropriate.
• Adapt materials to help students access the general curriculum.
• Participate in professional development to improve instruction and programming.
• Coordinate schedules of paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
