Job summary

North Kansas City Schools is seeking a Teacher – Special Education to provide specialized instruction and coordinate IEP services for students with disabilities. The role entails case management, collaboration with regular education staff, and monitoring progress in alignment with DESE requirements.

The position requires Missouri certification in appropriate special education areas, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, documentation, and effective use of technology in instruction.

Qualifications

• Missouri certification in Mild-Moderate disabilities (includes LD, BD/ED, MR and OHI).
• Alternative qualifications may be considered as deemed appropriate by the Board.

Responsibilities

• Serves as case manager for IEP development and implementation.
• Provides specialized instruction to students with disabilities in regular and SPED settings.
• Communicates with regular education teachers and principals about students' needs and programs.
• Collaborates with the school team on effective teaching strategies for students with disabilities.
• Maintains records of student progress toward IEP goals, services, and accommodations.
• Participates in student eligibility evaluations and re-evaluations.
• Participates in the development of annual budget requests for instructional materials.
• Initiates regular communication with parents of students with disabilities.
• Uses technology to implement instruction and manage documentation.
• Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Complies with safety practices and district rules/policies.
• Other duties as assigned by the administration.
