Job summary

Benhaven School is looking for a Special Education Teacher to join our dynamic team. This is a full-time, 37.5-hour per week exempt position.

The incumbent works under the direction of the School Director and collaborates with the team to develop IEPs and provide specialized instruction for students with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disability, and other disabilities. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; CT Special Educator certification preferred or DSAP eligible.
• Must pass background checks.
• Experience with adolescents in SPED and with autism is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop IEPs with the PPT and oversee implementation.
• Provide specialized instruction for students with autism and other disabilities.
• Collaborate with team, families, and specialists to adjust programs.
• Prepare for and attend regular meetings (team, PPT, classroom, medication review, etc.).
• Train and supervise classroom staff and oversee data collection and progress reporting.
