Qualifications

• Possess a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate – CI Certification Preferred
• Possess a Bachelor’s degree with a major in a Special Education area
• Completion of Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention Training (preferred)
• Completion of START training (preferred)
• Experience with Kelvin (or other similar online IEP System) (preferred)

Job Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Plan, implement, and adapt lessons aligned with state standards and IEP goals
• Deliver instruction in inclusive, resource room, and/or self‑contained settings as assigned
• Assess student progress and collect data to monitor growth toward IEP goals
• Develop, implement, and review IEPs in collaboration with parents/guardians and multidisciplinary teams
• Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and re‑evaluation processes
• Differentiate instruction and provide accommodations and modifications as required
• Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff to support student success
• Manage and supervise paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom or caseload
• Implement positive behavior supports and behavior intervention plans as needed
• Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with IDEA, FERPA, and district policies
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs
• Use evidence‑based instructional strategies and interventions
• Integrate assistive technology and instructional supports as appropriate
