Job summary

Wake County Public School System seeks a dedicated Special Education professional to coordinate and provide direct instructional programs for students with IEPs. You will monitor programs, safeguard confidentiality, and ensure compliance with FERPA and other laws while fostering a learning-focused environment.

The role requires collaborating with staff, students, families, and community partners to implement effective instructional strategies and progress monitoring across the district.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
• Hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in an Exceptional Children’s teaching area.
• Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license as per NC requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develops IEPs for students with disabilities; updates IEPs using diagnostic information.
• Implements instructional strategies and progress monitoring tools for specially designed instruction.
• Assists students to complete curriculum tasks and achieve IEP goals.
• Employs varied teaching methods and resources to meet student needs; adapts materials as needed.
• Monitors student behavior; maintains classroom discipline; teaches behavioral strategies.
• Evaluates student work and progress; adjusts instruction as needed; coordinates grades.
• Attends IEP meetings and collaborates with team members.
• Keeps abreast of trends and best practices through professional development and collaboration.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
