Job summary

Wake County Public School System seeks a qualified educator to coordinate and provide direct instructional programs for students with disabilities and their IEPs. The role requires monitoring and evaluating services in compliance with FERPA and state laws, while fostering a conducive learning environment.

The candidate will collaborate with district staff, implement specially designed instruction, and participate in IEP meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
• Hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Professional Educator's License in an Exceptional Children's teaching area (not including licenses in Academically or Intellectually Gifted).
• Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of NC requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develops IEPs for students with disabilities; implements the IEP; and uses diagnostic information obtained from tests to update IEPs as needed.
• Implements instructional strategies and progress monitoring tools to provide specially designed instruction.
• Assists students in completing curriculum tasks and IEP goals.
• Employs various teaching methods, accommodations and modifications to meet student needs; adapts materials.
• Monitors student behavior and maintains classroom discipline; teaches behavioral strategies.
• Evaluates student work and coordinates progress report grades and report cards.
• Attends IEP meetings and collaborates with the team.
• Keeps abreast of trends and best practices for instruction.
