• Provide direct and indirect instructional support to students in a positive environment.
• Employ special educational strategies to develop sensory-motor skills, language, cognition, and memory.
• Instruct students using phonetics, multi-sensory learning, and repetition to meet varied needs.
• Teach behaviors per IEPs using a positive behavioral support system.
• Modify curriculum for students with disabilities using diverse techniques and technologies.
• Plan activities for a balanced program of instruction with observation and investigation.
• Establish rules for behavior and maintain a conducive learning environment.
• Meet with parents to discuss progress and determine priorities for each child.
• Consult with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and other professionals to develop IEPs.
• Maintain student records and prepare reports as required by policies.
• Set clear objectives for lessons and communicate them to students.
• Develop plans for communication, monitoring, and follow-up in inclusive classrooms.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Assist in data collection for appropriate classroom interventions.
• Serve on a multidisciplinary team as appropriate.
• Assist in preparing data for local, state, and federal reports.
• Maintain professional competence through staff development and curriculum meetings.
• Perform related work as required.
