Responsibilities

Prepares lesson plans and teaching strategies for course(s) of study taught.
Aligns course(s) curriculum taught and/or assessments with state and local curriculum standards.
Uses a variety of teaching strategies to facilitate student learning.
Plans a program of study that addresses the individual needs and abilities of the students.
Develops and maintains a school/classroom environment conducive to learning and socially appropriate for the age of students taught.
Analyzes and uses appropriate data to guide instruction and develop assessments.
Establishes and communicates clear expectations for all lessons, class work, and projects.
Assigns lessons routinely and corrects student work in a timely fashion.
Maintains good order in classroom and other areas of the school.
Supervises students at school related functions including on and off campus activities.
Consults with other professionals to address learning or behavioral problems with specific students.
Communicates with parents/guardian regularly through verbal and written form.
Assesses the progress of students on a regular basis, both formative and summative, and provides progress reports as required.
Schedules parent conferences as directed by the system as needed in particular cases; if necessary, outside school hours.
Keeps accurate attendance, academic performance, and IEP records for assigned students.
Reports to the appropriate administrative and/or consultative personnel when knowledgeably or suspicious that a child's health or welfare has been or appears to be at risk.
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Participates in school level faculty meetings, system professional development and in-service meetings.
