Job summary

Chester County Intermediate Unit in Coatesville, PA, seeks an Elementary Emotional Support Special Education Teacher to join the Division of Student Services. This role follows the extended school year calendar and is based at the Child and Career Development Center.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a bachelor level degree in education required.
• PDE certification in special education required.
• 3-5 years experience working with students with intellectual disabilities, autism, and significant challenging behavior strongly preferred.
• Experience with modifying general education content to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Prior experience working with CDC students in an extended school year teaching position preferred.
• Current police, child abuse & FBI fingerprint clearances (Current within one year of start date).
• Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by CCIU upon hire).

Responsibilities

• Instruct individuals in special education skill areas.
• Plan curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methods.
• Evaluate and monitor student progress based on classroom performance, test scores, and observation of behavior.
• Support objectives and interventions of the educational program.
• Maintain safe physical environment of the classroom.
• Maintain contact with parents of students and/or professionals concerning student progress.
• Develop IEPs addressing specific academic, behavioral, and speech needs of students.
• Prepare report cards, educational records, classroom observation records, and other documentation as required. Function as integral member of treatment/IEP team, addressing needs of students

At the present time, a vacancy exists for an Elementary Emotional Support Special Education Teacher within the Division of Student Services of the CCIU. This position follows the extended school year calendar and is located at the Child and Career Development Center in Coatesville, PA.

Schedule

Monday- Friday, 7.5 hours/day

194 days/yr (Year 1), 191 days/yr (Year 2), 190 days/yr (Year 3+)
