Job summary

West Springfield Public Schools is seeking an qualified Special Education Teacher for the CLEAR program at Coburn Elementary in West Springfield, MA. The role focuses on delivering ABA-informed instruction to students with moderate to severe needs, including data-driven planning and collaboration with the BCBA and school team.

The position is full-time for the 2026–2027 school year, with 10 months of service during the academic year.

Qualifications

• DESE certification for Moderate to Severe PreK-8 required.
• Experience with students with Autism preferred.
• SEI Endorsement is required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support students in group and 1:1 instruction in a 1:1–2:1 staff ratio classroom.
• Participate in training, meetings and student case management with BCBA and other staff.
• Implement teaching protocols and behavior support plans.
• Deliver instruction using Applied Behavior Analysis principles.
• Assist paraprofessionals with instructional programs and data collection.
• Record and analyze student data and manage cases.
• Manage behavioral crises and interventions.
• Support MCAS portfolio development when applicable.

Job Description

The following position is available in the West Springfield Public School system beginning with the 2026/2027 school year: Special Education Teacher - CLEAR Program, Coburn Elementary School.

• As an Special Education Teacher, you would be in a classroom to support students with both group work and individually in our 1:1 -or 2:1 student to staff ratio classroom
• In addition to working with students, there will be time devoted to training, meetings and student case management to best support the students we serve working with the BCBA and other staff professionals
• Implement teaching protocols and behavior support plans
• Work in a fast-paced educational environment
• Deliver student instruction using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis
• Assist paraprofessionals in the implementation of student specific instructional programs.
• Oversee the recording and analyzing of data
• Provide case management
• Manage behavioral crisis and interventions
• Depending on grade level MCAS portfolios will be required and a solid knowledge of MCAS Portfolio development will be required (there is training on this)

Qualifications

• Moderate to Severe Special Needs PreK-8 DESE certification
• A strong background in working with students with Autism is preferred.
• SEI Endorsement

Safety Care Training will be provided by the district.

Schedule: Full-time, 10 months, during the school year.

Salary: Per Unit A Contract (salary range: $53,939.00 - $100,108.00)
