Special Education Teacher - Elementary

200-Day Contract

Seeking qualified teacher to providespecial educationinstruction at theelementary school level. Reports to and is evaluated by the Principal.

Length of employment is 200 days (10 months); contract renewable in accordance with School Board policy and the Code of Virginia.

Qualifications:

• Hold or be eligible for licensure in Virginia withappropriate special educationendorsement
• Demonstrated understanding of standards-based curriculum, research-based instructional strategies, and effective assessment practices
• Ability to model and promote a culture of high expectations for student and staff performance
• Understanding of continuous school improvement and Effective Schools research
• Ability to disaggregate and use data to inform instruction
• Experience working with diverse populations, including students with disabilities, English language learners, students who live in poverty, and students who are gifted
• Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work in a collaborative/shared-leadership environment
