Job summary

Maya Angelou Schools in DC is seeking a Special Education Teacher/Case Manager to support incarcerated youth with individualized instruction and IEP-based case management within a secure facility. You will deliver multi-grade, multi-content instruction and develop plans that meet IDEA requirements.

Collaborating with colleagues and facility staff, you will monitor student progress, maintain documentation, and participate in IEP meetings while ensuring safe, effective teaching and learning

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or subject field required.
• Initial OSSE certification in the appropriate area within 1 year.
• Knowledge of IDEA and IEP development.
• Experience with justice-involved youth preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver multi-grade, multi-content instruction and adapt lessons.
• Serve as case manager for students with IEPs and manage IDEA processes.
• Collaborate with staff and facility to support a well-rounded program.
• Perform other duties to maintain a safe teaching environment.
