Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Valid Iowa teaching license.
• Endorsement Instructional Strategist II (ID) or willingness to obtain conditional license.
• Knowledge of IDEA laws and regulations.
• Iowa Fingerprint Clearance background check.
• Mandatory Reporter: Child and Adult Dependent Abuse Certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate student records and prepare reports on children and activities as required by laws and district policies.
• Teach using behavior modification and positive reinforcement.
• Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
• Establish and enforce rules for behavior and policies to maintain order among students.
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and professionals to develop IEPs promoting student development.
• Instruct in one or more subjects such as English or mathematics.
• Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction and inquiry.
• Teach personal development skills such as goal setting, independence, and self-advocacy.
• Instruct daily living skills for independent maintenance and self-sufficiency.
• Direct and monitor para-educators.
