Job summary

Merakey seeks a Special Education Teacher in State College, PA to provide specialized instruction within an individualized program. You will design, supervise and implement IEP plans while coordinating schedules with related services and general education.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s in Special Education or equivalent certification, and experience with autism/emotional support. Merakey offers a comprehensive benefits package and a 10-month school year with opportunities for ESY.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a Bachelor's with 18 credits in special education and 6 credits in education theory.
• Pennsylvania Special Education certificate; or a Pennsylvania Private Academic certification with ability to attain public certification within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire.
• Experience working with students with autism or emotional support is required; this can include student teaching.

• Effectively working with a large team of professionals needs to coordinate services.
• Participate in several staff development training courses that focus onworking with students with Autism.
• Implement state of the art strategies to work effectively with studentswith Autism.
