Job summary

Merakey is seeking a Special Education Teacher for our K-12 program in Philadelphia, PA to design and implement individualized instruction and help students become confident, productive members of their community.

You will develop and monitor IEPs, coordinate schedules with related services, collect data, and collaborate with a large team to support students, including those with Autism. Merakey offers comprehensive benefits and a 10-month school year with summers off.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Special Education or equivalent as required.
• PA Special Education certificate or eligible private certification.

Salary: Up to 68,000

Position Details:

• The primary goal of the Special Education Teacher is to provide specialized instruction in an individualized program for students to empower them to become happy, confident, and productive members of their community.
• Design, supervise and implement students' IEP plans.
• Create and coordinate student schedules with related services and general education.
• Collect and analyze student data and monitor student progress.
• Effectively work with large team of professionals needs to coordinate services.
• Participate in several staff development training courses that focus onworking with students with Autism.
• Implement state of the art strategies to work effectively with studentswith Autism.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Masters's degree in Special education, or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 18 credits in special education and 6 credits in education theory.
• Must possess a Pennsylvania Special Education certificate; or a Pennsylvania Private Academic certification with ability to attain public certification within one year from date of hire will be considered.
