Job summary

Pomperaug Regional School District 15 in Southbury is seeking a Special Education Teacher at Pomperaug High School to develop and implement individualized educational programs that address students' social, behavioral, and emotional needs.

You will collaborate with counselors, the school psychologist, the school nurse, and administrators to provide targeted support, use data to guide instructional decisions, and help students succeed academically and socially.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in the content area.
• Must hold current CT Teaching certification with K-12 Special Education Endorsement.
• Wilson Training preferred.
• Salary, work year and working conditions will be in accordance with the current contract language between the Board of Education and the Pomperaug Education Association.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement accurate and thorough individualized educational programs to meet the social, behavioral and emotional needs of the students assigned to the program.
• Provide students the consistent kind/firm structure and support they need in the classroom in order to be successful academically, socially and behaviorally.
• Work closely with the student's counselors, the school psychologist, school nurse and high school administrators to provide students the help they need to learn how to overcome or cope with social/emotional and behavioral challenges.
• Use data to make effective instructional decisions.
