Job summary

Amergis is seeking a Special Education Teacher to deliver quality services to students from K-12 under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator. The role emphasizes teamwork in planning and implementing student programs, including specialized instruction, tutoring, and consultation with general education staff.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s Degree and an appropriate state teaching certificate; an LBS1 endorsement is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred.
• Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract regulations.
• Minimum of one year teaching experience preferred.
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred.
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred.
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred.
• Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred.
• Complies with all professional standards of practice.
• Current CPR if applicable; TB questionnaire/PPD or chest x-ray if applicable.
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality services to special education students from kindergarten through grade 12.
• Participate in planning and implementation of student programs with general education staff, including special instruction and tutorial assistance.
