Job summary

Legacy Traditional Schools is seeking a Special Education Teacher to support students needing personalized learning approaches. You will work one-on-one and in small groups to implement instructional strategies, track progress, and align with our proven curriculum and school values.

The role requires a current SPED certification, AZ SEI endorsement within 6 months if applicable, and the ability to travel between campuses as needed. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Current special education certification with proper endorsement(s).
  • SEI Endorsement/Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months in AZ.
  • Must pass a criminal history background check.

Responsibilities

  • Create a classroom environment that cultivates learning and promotes student growth.
  • Utilize direct instruction techniques to support primary school students’ social, physical and intellectual development.
  • Employ diverse instructional techniques and media aligned with student needs.
  • Assess student progress and provide regular progress reports as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in ongoing student support and collaboration.

Position Overview

As a Special Education Teacher, you will have the opportunity to change lives through education as you connect and work one-on-one with students needing special support to understand both their capabilities and disabilities as you develop and apply personalized learning approaches and programs that support their growth, progress, and success.

Essential Functions
  • Create a classroom environment that cultivates learning, engages the interests of the students and allows them to perform at their very best.
  • Utilize direct instruction techniques to guide our students through a variety of activities designed to promote the social, physical and intellectual growth that is needed for primary school success!
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media; consistent with the physical limitations of the provided location and the needs and capabilities of the individuals involved.
  • The Special Education Teacher assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Recognizes and evaluates the learning and other disabilities of students on a regular basis; seeks the assistance or referral of district specialists as required.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Explore individual needs and give side-by-side support to discover how each student best learns and develop personalized solutions to each students’ learning style and abilities.
  • Master our proven curriculum as you implement our philosophy of education and guide the learning process and students toward the achievement of the curriculum goals.
  • The Special Education Teacher evaluates each student’s learning capabilities and celebrates student accomplishments,
  • Encourage students to uphold our values and model mature behavior and good character in the classroom, on the school campus, and throughout their lives.

  • The Special Education Teacher is an active role requiring lifting, sitting, standing, moving throughout the campus and traveling to other campuses as required.

Required Qualifications That Set You Up For Success
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • A current special education certification with proper endorsement(s) according to state and federal standards.
  • Valid SEI Endorsement/Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment is required in AZ only.
  • The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Up For Success

Two plus years SPED Teaching experience and proven proficiency and experience in the subject of focus and specialty area of this position.
