Job summary

Legacy Traditional Schools in Las Vegas seeks a Special Education Teacher to work one-on-one with students who need tailored supports, developing and applying personalized learning approaches to foster growth, progress, and success.

You will implement our proven curriculum, use direct instruction techniques, and assess learning to provide regular progress updates while maintaining accurate records in compliance with policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • A current special education certification with proper endorsement(s) according to state and federal standards.
  • Valid SEI Endorsement/Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment is required in AZ only.
  • Criminal history background check required.

Responsibilities

  • Create a classroom environment that cultivates learning and engages students.
  • Utilize direct instruction techniques to guide students through activities promoting social, physical, and intellectual growth.
  • Assess student progress and maintain accurate records as required by law and district policy.
  • Identify and evaluate learning and other disabilities; refer to district specialists as needed.
  • Implement personalized learning solutions based on student needs and abilities.
  • Master and apply the district’s curriculum to achieve curriculum goals.
  • Support students’ values and model positive behavior in and out of the classroom.

Position Overview

As a Special Education Teacher, you will have the opportunity to change lives through education as you connect and work one-on-one with students needing special support to understand both their capabilities and disabilities as you develop and apply personalized learning approaches and programs that support their growth, progress, and success.


Essential Functions


  • Create a classroom environment that cultivates learning, engages the interests of the students and allows them to perform at their very best.

  • Utilize direct instruction techniques to guide our students through a variety of activities designed to promote the social, physical and intellectual growth that is needed for primary school success!

  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media; consistent with the physical limitations of the provided location and the needs and capabilities of the individuals involved.

  • The Special Education Teacher assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.

  • Recognizes and evaluates the learning and other disabilities of students on a regular basis; seeks the assistance or referral of district specialists as required.

  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.

  • Explore individual needs and give side-by-side support to discover how each student best learns and develop personalized solutions to each students’ learning style and abilities.

  • Master our proven curriculum as you implement our philosophy of education and guide the learning process and students toward the achievement of the curriculum goals.

  • The Special Education Teacher evaluates each student’s learning capabilities and celebrates student accomplishments,

  • Encourage students to uphold our values and model mature behavior and good character in the classroom, on the school campus, and throughout their lives.

  • The Special Education Teacher is an active role requiring lifting, sitting, standing, moving throughout the campus and traveling to other campuses as required.

Required Qualifications That Set You Up For Success


  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • A current special education certification with proper endorsement(s) according to state and federal standards.

  • Valid SEI Endorsement/Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment is required in AZ only.

  • The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.


Preferred Qualifications That Set You Up For Success

Two plus years SPED Teaching experience and proven proficiency and experience in the subject of focus and specialty area of this position.
