Job summary

The School District of Springfield Township is seeking a Special Education Teacher with a reading focus to support middle school students. The role emphasizes IEP development, data-driven instruction, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualified candidates will hold PA Special Education certification (K-12 or PK-8) or higher, with a Bachelor's and/or Master's in Education. The district promotes diversity and inclusive practices.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver standards-based instruction in all core subject areas.
  • Lead Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings; develop measurable goals, accommodations, modifications, and services.
  • Deliver tailored instruction in either pull-out or inclusion settings, using evidence-based strategies.
  • Use supplementary aids, specialized materials, and assistive technology to facilitate student learning.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary teams for evaluations, 504 planning, behavioral or transition planning.
  • Ensure all services, placements, and procedural safeguards meet IDEA, Section 504, and PA regulations.
  • Manage required documentation (IEPs, data collection, etc).
  • Stay current with special education best practices and PA guidelines via professional development.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of all students.
  • Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with other grade-level/subject-area teachers, specialists, and support staff.
  • Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school events.

Qualifications:

Terms of employment:
