Job summary

A well-established community organization serving children with developmental disabilities is seeking a Preschool Special Education Teacher to join their team. In this role you will lead classroom activities, develop and deliver individualized programming based on IEP/IFSP, and collaborate with families and an interdisciplinary team.

You will supervise Teacher Assistants and contribute to curriculum development.

Qualifications

• NYS Early Childhood Special Education certification preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree; pursuing a Master’s and/or Special Education certification may qualify under a Study Plan.
• Experience with preschoolers and developmental disabilities; strong IEP/IFSP knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead individualized classroom activities.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate IEP/IFSP goals.
• Complete assessments and document progress.
• Communicate with parents; participate in team meetings and annual reviews.

Job description

A well-established community organization serving children with developmental disabilities is seeking a Preschool Special Education Teacher to join their team.

Salary: $67,705–$79,568 annually + benefits

In this role, you’ll serve as the classroom team leader, developing and delivering individualized educational programming for preschool students based on their IEP/IFSP and developmental needs. You’ll also work closely with families and an interdisciplinary team while supervising and supporting Teacher Assistants.

What you’ll do:

• Plan and lead engaging, individualized classroom activities
• Develop, implement, and evaluate IEP/IFSP goals
• Complete assessments and student progress documentation
• Communicate with parents and participate in team meetings and annual reviews
• Supervise, train, and support Teacher Assistants
• Help develop curriculum and classroom materials
• Provide hands-on support with student needs when necessary
• Participate in professional development, trainings, and school activities

What we’re looking for:

• NYS Early Childhood Special Education certification (Birth–Grade 2) preferred
• Bachelor’s degree candidates pursuing a Master’s and/or Special Education certification may also qualify under a Study Plan
• Experience working with preschool children and/or children with developmental disabilities
• Strong understanding of IEPs/IFSPs and individualized programming
• Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills
