Job description

QUALIFICATIONS: Current Alabama Teacher’s Certification, Bachelor’s Degree or higher with an endorsement in Special Education (K-12)

JOB GOAL: Create a special education program and classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth Establish effective rapport with students Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good educational foundation Utilize technology to motivate students and prepare students for 21st century Participate in school-related activities that enhance teacher, student, parent, and community relations Analyze different data sources in making data-driven decisions for instruction Establish a positive relationship with students, parents, co-workers, volunteers, and other visitors

Additional Responsibilities:

• Provide system wide leadership for proactively collaborating and supporting families of students who receive special education services. Facilitate and evaluate the delivery of effective and appropriate workshops for parents of students with disabilities.
• Provide leadership in developing and maintaining Special Education Programs for the district and state level, including funding sources.
• Other duties as assigned by the Special Education Director

SALARY: Board approved salary schedule based on rank, certification, and experience

WORK TERM: 187 days

EFFECTIVE DATE: 2026-2027 School Year
