Job description

At MJ Care, we partner with schools across Wisconsin to provide specialized services to students, including Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy Speech Therapy, Special Education, and more. Our mission is simple: support students so they can fully access their education and thrive in the school environment.

What makes working at MJ Care unique? Rather than working directly for a school district, specialists join us as W-2 employees and are placed in schools through MJ Care's district partnerships. We have full time and part time opportunities available in districts across central and southeastern Wisconsin.

The role:

As a school-based Special Education Teacher, you’ll play an active, hands‑on role in supporting students throughout their school day. You’ll provide specialized instruction and educational support aligned with students’ IEPs and other individualized support plans, while working closely with teachers, administrators, families, and fellow service providers to support student learning, participation, independence, and overall success within the educational environment.

This role is embedded within the rhythm of a school—balancing direct student interaction, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and consistent documentation to support student progress and compliance. You’ll participate in team meetings, contribute to planning and progress discussions, and adapt your approach based on individual student needs and the evolving priorities of the school environment. The goal is to support students’ academic, behavioral, functional, and social‑emotional growth so they can meaningfully access and participate in their educational environment.

At MJ Care, you’re not stepping into this work alone. You’ll be supported by a team that understands school‑based services, values clear communication, and prioritizes doing right by both clinicians and the students they serve. We focus on building strong relationships—with our associates and our school partners—so you can focus on what matters most: making a meaningful impact in students’ day‑to‑day lives.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide services to students in alignment with IEPs and other individualized support plans
  • Support students’ academic, behavioral, functional, and social‑emotional development
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and instructional strategies
  • Deliver instruction in a variety of settings, including classrooms, small groups, and one‑on‑one
  • Work with general education teachers, administrators, families, and related service providers
  • Participate in and contribute to IEP meetings, team meetings, and progress discussions
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant service documentation and records
  • Support behavior intervention strategies, crisis response, and student support planning
  • Manage caseload responsibilities, including scheduling and service tracking
  • Communicate effectively with school staff and, when appropriate, families
  • Support a positive, inclusive, and student‑centered learning environment
  • Adapt to changes in student needs, schedules, and school priorities throughout the year

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education
  • New graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Current Wisconsin DPI Special Education teaching license in one of the following areas:
  • Cross‑Categorical Special Education (1801 or 2801)
  • Early Childhood Special Education (1809)
  • Emotional Behavioral Disabilities (EBD) (1830)
  • Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) (1811)
  • One of the following Wisconsin educator license tiers: (Tier I 1‑Year License with Stipulations, Tier II Provisional License, Tier III Lifetime License)
  • Maintenance of all licenses and certifications in good standing throughout employment
  • Ability to meet all district and state onboarding requirements, including background checks
  • Familiarity with IEP development, progress monitoring, and class accommodations preferred
  • Experience supporting students with diverse academic, behavioral, and functional needs
  • Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams
  • Ability to build positive, supportive relationships with students, staff, and families
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly with scheduling and documentation
  • Ability to manage a caseload and adapt to changing priorities in a school environment
  • Comfort with basic technology for documentation, communication, and service tracking
  • Problem‑solving mindset with the ability to respond to student needs in real time
  • Ability to comply with all federal, state, and local regulations, including FERPA and HIPAA
  • Ability to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation

Full time Pay Range: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
