Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education.
• Current Wisconsin DPI Special Education teaching license in one of the following areas: Cross-Categorical (1801/2801), Early Childhood (1809), Emotional Behavioral Disabilities (EBD) (1830), Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) (1811), Cognitive/Intellectual Disabilities (ID).
• One of the Wisconsin educator license tiers: Tier I 1-Year License with Stipulations, Tier II Provisional License, or Tier III Lifetime License.
• Maintenance of licenses and certifications in good standing throughout employment.
• Ability to meet district and state onboarding requirements, including background checks.
• Familiarity with IEP development, progress monitoring, and class accommodations (preferred).
• Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams (preferred).

Responsibilities

Summary of Position

As a Special Education Teacher, you’ll play an active, hands‑on role in supporting students throughout their school day. You’ll provide specialized instruction and educational support aligned with students’ IEPs and other individualized support plans, while working closely with teachers, administrators, families, and fellow service providers to support student learning, participation, independence, and overall success within the educational environment.

This role is embedded within the rhythm of a school—balancing direct student interaction, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and consistent documentation to support student progress and compliance. You’ll participate in team meetings, contribute to planning and progress discussions, and adapt your approach based on individual student needs and the evolving priorities of the school environment. The goal is to support students’ academic, behavioral, functional, and social‑emotional growth so they can meaningfully access and participate in their educational environment.
