George Washington Carver Academy is hiring a Special Education Teacher to join the team.

George Washington Carver Academy is a PreK – 8th grade public charter school located in Highland Park. Our mission extends beyond academics. We are seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher to join our team. The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for providing instruction and support to students with special needs, ensuring that they receive appropriate educational services and accommodations.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver standards-aligned instruction for diverse learning needs.
• Create and implement IEPs and provide individualized, small-group, and co-taught instruction.

Physical & Cognitive Requirements:

• Supervise multiple students and maintain effective classroom routines.
• Frequently stand and walk; occasionally lift/move up to 25 lbs., bend, squat, or sit on the floor.
• Assist students as needed and perform first aid/CPR when necessary.
• Work effectively in varying weather and moderate noise conditions.
