Job summary

Rivermont Schools in Hampton, VA, seeks a Special Education Teacher to create an engaging, inclusive classroom and implement evidence-based instruction and behavioral supports to help students reach their goals and potential.

You will design lessons aligned with Virginia Standards of Learning and IEPs, collaborate with behavior specialists and families, assess progress, maintain documentation, and contribute to a supportive, growth‑m oriented school community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
• Eligibility for or possession of Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) certification with endorsement in special education or adaptive curriculum.
• Strong instructional, communication, and classroom management skills.
• Valid Virginia driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with Virginia Standards of Learning and individualized education programs (IEPs).
• Adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs using research-based strategies and behavior analytic principles.
• Collaborate with behavior specialists, therapists, and families to support academic and behavioral progress.
• Assess student performance and adjust instruction to promote mastery and engagement.
• Maintain accurate documentation of student data, progress, and compliance with state and school requirements.
