Job summary

Rivermont Schools is hiring a Special Education Teacher to create an engaging, inclusive classroom environment for students with emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges. You will design lessons aligned with Virginia Standards of Learning and IEP goals, using evidence-based instruction and behavioral supports.

You will collaborate with behavior specialists, therapists, and families to monitor progress, adapt instruction, and maintain accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
• Eligibility for or possession of Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) certification with endorsement in special education or adaptive curriculum
• Strong instructional, communication, and classroom management skills
• Valid Virginia driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with Virginia Standards of Learning and individualized education programs (IEPs)
• Adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs using research-based strategies and behavior analytic principles
• Collaborate with behavior specialists, therapists, and families to support academic and behavioral progress
• Assess student performance and adjust instruction to promote mastery and engagement
• Maintain accurate documentation of student data, progress, and compliance with state and school requirements
