Job summary

Ascend in Alameda, CA, is seeking a Special Education Teacher (SPED) for moderate to severe or ESN settings. This in-person role offers $60–75 per hour and flexible full-time or part-time schedules for the 2026–2027 school year.

You will design and deliver instruction aligned with IEP goals, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and document progress while supporting transitions and life skills development where applicable. H1-B sponsorship is available.

Qualifications

• Valid California Education Specialist Credential required.
• Experience with Mod/Severe or ESN classrooms preferred.
• Experience supporting students with diverse learning and behavioral needs.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction aligned with IEP goals and California State Standards.
• Develop and implement individualized and small-group instruction using evidence-based teaching strategies.
• Support students with mild to moderate and/or moderate to severe disabilities in classroom and alternative educational settings.
• Conduct formal and informal assessments to monitor academic and behavioral progress.
• Develop, manage, and maintain compliant IEPs, including progress reports and documentation.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, paraprofessionals, and families.
• Utilize adaptive technology and instructional supports to increase student access to curriculum.
• Implement positive behavior intervention strategies and classroom management techniques.
• Support student transition planning, vocational readiness, and life skills development when applicable.
• Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with district, state, and federal guidelines.
• Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.
