Job summary

West Side Elementary School in Marietta, GA is seeking a Paraprofessional in Special Education to support students with disabilities under the supervision of teachers and the principal. The position requires an Associate’s Degree or postsecondary credit hours and experience with autism or developmental delays.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree through an accredited school OR 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours through an accredited school OR a passing score on the Paraprofessional Assessment acceptable in Georgia.
• Experience working with students who display characteristics associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or other developmental delays.
• Knowledge of working with students with disabilities and supporting IEP goals.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance and adheres to established work schedules.
• Assists with classroom management and data collections, including collections for student information, student record, FTE, and other state database counts.
• Assists teachers by providing one-on-one support for individual students.
• Teaches or assists students in developing social/emotional skills and other therapies under supervision.
• Prepares learning materials tailored to individual learning styles.
• Aids in delivering specialized assessments and instruction for students with disabilities and documents progress.
• Assists in implementing individual goals as determined by students’ IEPs.
• Maintains confidentiality of student information.
• Supports staff in school committees and events as requested.
