Job summary

Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) is seeking a Special Education Assistant at Emerson Elementary to support students with disabilities under the supervision of teachers and Student Services staff.

The position is 0.337 FTE for the 26-27 school year, non-exempt, with starting compensation of $25.47 per hour. A valid Associate’s degree or 48 college credits or completion of an onsite assessment is required. MMSD emphasizes inclusivity, safety, and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Inclusive practices to support diverse learners.
• Ability to modify and deliver curriculum as directed by licensed professionals.
• Skill in documenting data and maintaining student confidentiality under FERPA/HIPAA.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support and academic assistance for 4K-12.
• Assist with behavioral interventions and supervision during school activities.
• Perform personal care tasks with student dignity and safety.
• Collect data and maintain documentation on student progress and goals.
• Collaborate with teachers, OT/PT/SLP and external agencies to support student outcomes.
• Attend district and school functions and complete required trainings.
