Fort Wayne Community Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant to support teachers with instructional clerical tasks, supervise students and assist with daily living activities for students in special education and general classrooms.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, preference for candidates with experience with special needs, and a willingness to train in department guidelines. Strong communication and computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; strong tutorial skills; willingness to participate in training.
• Prefer experience with students with special needs.
• Ability to relate well with students, staff and parents.
• Strong office computer and oral and written communication skills.
• Must participate in training provided by the Special Education Department.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with instructional clerical tasks and student management.
• Support daily life activities for special education students.
• Work in either special education or general classrooms.
