Job summary

Fort Wayne Community Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant to support teachers with instructional clerical tasks, student management, and daily life activities for students in special education or general classrooms. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, strong communication skills, and be willing to supervise students in community settings.

Training will be provided by the Special Education Department.

Qualifications

• Must have strong tutorial skills.
• Must be able to relate well with students, staff and parents.
• Strong office computer and oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of child guidance principles and practices and basic instructional methods and techniques.
• Willing to supervise students in community settings.
• Must participate in training provided by the Special Education Department.

Responsibilities
