Job summary

Columbia Public School District is seeking a Paraprofessional to support students with special education needs under teacher supervision. The role includes preparing instructional materials, assisting with behavior management, and providing direct caregiving services as needed.

The position requires completion of a 20-hour Substitute Training Course or equivalent, with preferred 60 college credits. Training in restraint/advanced procedures may be required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare student materials and reinforce material as directed by the teacher.
  • Manage student behavior and classroom organization; follow policies and regulations.
  • Provide direct caregiving services under supervision of teachers and staff.
  • Take precautions to protect students.
  • Respond calmly to aggressive behaviors.
  • Meet and escort students at designated times.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information about students and employees.
  • Attend yearly in-service training (10-15 hours).
  • Adhere to district policies and procedures.
