Qualifications

• Required: High school graduation or equivalent and at least one of the following: ETS Paraeducator Assessment, AA degree, 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits, registered apprenticeship program, or foreign degrees evaluated by a NACES member.
• Preferred: Experience with students in self-contained or diverse learning settings; ABA training; Right Response Training.

Responsibilities

• Provides for the physical, health and safety needs of students.
• Provides social, emotional, behavioral, and educational support for students with significant disabilities.
• Implements components of IEPs as required.
• Provides direct academic, functional and vocational instruction.
• Advocates for students in least restrictive environment.
• Supports students with emotional regulation challenges.
• Ensures safety of students and staff during escalated behavior.
• Encourages student independence.
• Collects data as directed by case manager/teacher.
• Responds to student medical needs within scope of position.
