Job summary

Mercer County Elementary School in Harrodsburg, Kentucky is seeking a caring Special Education Instructional Assistant to support students with disabilities in both general education and the resource setting.

You will work with special education teachers, classroom staff, and administrators to help students access instruction, achieve IEP goals, and experience success in the school environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional and behavioral support to students with IEPs in general education and resource settings.
• Assist with implementing instructional activities and accommodations per IEPs.
• Support students individually and in small groups with academic tasks and organization.
• Help students develop independence, self-advocacy, and positive social interactions.
• Monitor progress and document observations for the special education team.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure appropriate supports throughout the day.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records in accordance with laws.
• Assist with classroom organization and preparation of learning activities.
• Supervise students during instructional and non-instructional times.
• Perform other duties to support students and the special education program.
