Job summary

Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District in Palmer, AK seeks a Special Education Assistant .875 FTE to support instructors in an emotionally disturbed/behaviorally disordered or self-contained classroom, assist with IEP implementation, student monitoring, and daily learning activities.

Under supervision, you will prepare materials, enter IEP data, assist with transportation, supervise students on/off buses, and provide attendant care.

Qualifications

• Two years of college (at least 48 semester hours).
• An associate's degree or higher is required.
• Passing the ParaPro Assessment and Paraprofessional Standards Checklist is required.

Responsibilities

• Enter IEP data into a computer system and print data files as required.
• Prepare and return classroom materials; set up supplies and bulletin boards.
• Provide attendant care and supervise students throughout the day and on bus routes.
• Support instructors with grading, attendance, and screening/testing procedures.
• Assist with planning and implementing IEP goals for individuals or small groups.
• Schedule parent conferences and coordinate visits with school staff.
• Provide additional administrative assistance as needed.
• Make programmatic calls to parents as directed by the teacher.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
