Job summary

Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES is seeking a Teacher Aide to support classroom teachers and assist students with learning activities at the Town of Herkimer location. You will help with supervision, mobility tasks, and daily routines under the supervision of a Special Education supervisor.

The role involves assisting with therapy sessions, bus loading/unloading, feeding support, and keeping students focused on tasks, with a strong emphasis on safety and compassionate care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with related experience or training.
• Ability to assist with learning activities and supervision.
• Capable of lifting and assisting mobility of students as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with teaching activities and supervise students.
• Meet bus and assist in loading/unloading students.
• Assist with feeding if necessary and help children stay focused on tasks.
• Accompany children to therapy sessions and provide breaks as needed.
• Notify teacher of issues, concerns and progress.
