Job summary

Greater Southern Tier BOCES in New York state is seeking dedicated Teacher Aides to support teachers in classrooms across multiple districts. You will assist students with various needs, monitor classrooms, and help with daily activities such as meals, recess, and transportation between bus and classroom.

Positions involve direct work with students who may have autism or developmental disabilities, with training provided on TCIS; a high school diploma or GED and related experience are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• One year of coursework at a regionally accredited NYS college or university.
• Equivalent combination of training/experience; experience with disabled students preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help teacher monitor class and assist students during daily activities.
• Aid students in travel from bus to classroom and back.
• Assist students one-to-one or in small groups per teacher's instructions.
• Help with lunch, gym, music and other activities.
• Assist with prescribed physical exercises and daily living skills.
• Follow medical protocols and support with behavior management as needed.
• May require heavy lifting (50 lbs+) and occasional interventions; TCIS training provided.

Education
