Job summary

SCO Family of Services in New York seeks a classroom teacher for a self-contained special education class. You will teach students with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism, and Emotionally Disturbed in a 6:1:3 setting.

Responsibilities include developing individualized academic programming, creating weekly lesson plans aligned with IEPs, attending CSE meetings, and implementing PBIS with the school psychologist. Travel of ~25% may be required.

Qualifications

• Possess New York State Teacher Certification in Special Education.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of one year experience working with students with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism, and/or Emotional Disturbance.

Responsibilities

• Teach in a self-contained special education classroom with a 6:1:3 ratio.
• Develop structured, individualized academic programming and IEP goals.
• Attend Annual CSE meetings and Reevaluation meetings as needed.
• Implement PBIS and track progress toward IEP goals and behaviors.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team and communicate with families.
