Job summary

East Hartford Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Resource Paraprofessional for a 6.25 hour/day role at O`Brien Elementary School. The position supports IEP implementation and helps meet the physical, emotional, and educational needs of students under supervision.

Responsibilities include materials management, small-group instruction, behavior and emotional support, safety during activities and transport, and collaboration with teachers to align goals and progress.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associates Degree or 60 college credits or passing the ETS ParaPro Assessment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, organize, and distribute instructional materials and equipment.
• Maintain an organized, safe, and productive student work environment.
• Support student learning and implement curriculum-based activities.
• Reinforce lessons with students individually or in small groups.
• Assist with mobility, self-care, and emotional regulation needs.
• Score objective tests and assist in preparing instructional materials.
• Supervise students during field trips, lunch, and playtime.
• Assist students on and off buses or vans safely.
• Support classes including music, art, and physical education.
• Provide information to substitute teachers about routines and needs.
• Communicate regularly with the classroom teacher on goals and progress.
• Participate in professional development and in-service training.
