Reports to: Supervising Speech Pathologist, Principals

Location: District Needs

Evaluated by: Supervising Speech Pathologist, Principals

Evaluation period: Annual

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree from a technical training program with a program of study designed to prepare to be an SLPA
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology or Communication Disorders preferred, with required successful school internship and/or student teaching
  • Hold and maintain current licensure in the State of Indiana
  • Hold and maintain registration with Indiana Professional License Agency
  • Possess a basic knowledge of special education laws and regulations and can follow developed procedures.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Plans, schedules, and conducts treatment programs for individuals with language and/or speech impairments under the supervision of a licensed SLA with the required supervision credentials.
  • Maintains all student records required by law, policies, and administrative procedures.
  • Utilizes research to aid in identifying appropriate techniques and services to meet student needs.
  • Consults with the TOR on the development of the individualized educational plans for students when speech and/or language are related services.
  • Provides students with strategies necessary for generalization of learned skills to promote independent monitoring of communication.
  • Conducts and participates in case conferences to review diagnostic information and student progress.
  • Understands and implements the use of assistive technology with students and consults with other staff as needed.
  • Provides ongoing professional development activities for school and community when requested.
  • Attends speech and language staff meetings as well as all building staff meetings.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.

Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
