Job summary

Forest Grove School District is seeking an Instructional Assistant - Skills Trainer for Oak Grove Academy in Forest Grove. You will provide concentrated academic and behavioral support to students with multiple impairments under licensed supervision.

Responsibilities include delivering direct instructional services, crisis intervention, and collaborating with staff to ensure safe transitions and progress monitoring. Ability to work with English/Spanish speakers is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent; 72 quarter hours of accredited college or equivalent education; Bachelor's Degree preferred, but NOT required.
• Experience: 1-2 years with behaviorally at-risk children or equivalent education/experience.
• Skills: Computer use, office equipment, strong verbal/written communication, organization, awareness of disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provides intensive behavioral support in-class and outside; redirects and uses positive reinforcement.
• Coaches students to develop social, emotional, and academic skills.
• Provides direct instructional services to students under licensed supervision.
• Performs crisis intervention and physical management per training.
• Rides district buses as needed and ensures student safety during transit.
