Job summary

Tooele County School District is seeking a Paraprofessional in Special Education at West Elementary School (High-Needs School) to support instructional goals under supervision of certified staff. You will assist with reading, language arts, math and computer instruction, and help manage daily classroom activities to enable teachers to focus on curriculum development.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Successful completion of college coursework or equivalency may be considered.
Prior experience with students with special needs is desirable.

Responsibilities

Assists and guides students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement programs.
Assists professional staff in administration and correction of classroom exercises and assessments.
Assists in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials.
Assists with record-keeping to document student learning and performance.
Supports classroom behavioral management to maintain safety and order.
Assists students in non-instructional areas such as lunch, bus, playground, and study halls.
Accompanies students on field trips for supervision.
