Job summary

Dublin City Schools is seeking a Special Education Secretary at Bailey Elementary School to support state-mandated procedures and maintain confidential records. The role includes coordinating meetings, managing EMIS data, and assisting with IEP and RTI processes under the Building Administrator's guidance.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, strong computer skills, confidentiality, and excellent communication with staff, parents, and students.

Responsibilities

  • Arranges meetings between staff members and parents to obtain permission to test, to determine eligibility for special education services, and to sign required forms as requested by staff members and/or parents.
  • Maintains an ample supply of forms which are currently required by law for special education placement.
  • Maintains current program participation and event codes in the Education Management Information System (EMIS) for each special education student.
  • Maintains current and accurate EMIS information to the Central Office for State reporting.
  • Assists in scheduling and notifying staff members and parents of annual Individualized Education Program (IEP) reviews and three-year Re-evaluations for special education students.
  • Assists in schedule and notifying staff members and parents of Section 504 on Response to Intervention (RTI) meetings.
  • Maintains an accurate, duplicate, confidential file for each special education student in the building; sends original file to Central Office.
  • Processes confidential correspondence between staff members, Central Office personnel, parents of special education students, and private psychologists, psychiatrists, physicians.
  • Obtains, organizes and distributes pertinent data regarding special education students or programs, as requested.
  • Screens, then greets visitors, and helps maintain building security.
  • Withdraws students and records student attendance in accordance with state laws and Board policy.
  • Troubleshoots copier related issues.
  • Performs clinic duties as needed; such as, dispensing medication, first aid, etc.
  • Places, receives, and correctly forwards telephone calls to voice mailboxes or classroom phones.
  • Distributes incoming mail; U.S., intra-district, UPS, etc.
  • Ensures the safety of students.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative professional relationships.
  • Remains free of any alcohol or nonprescription controlled substance and abuse of any prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout employment in the district.
  • Exhibits professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgment.
  • Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, and intelligent human beings.
  • Understands the legal responsibility to help instill in students the belief in, and practice of, ethical principles and democratic values.
  • Maintains confidentiality and respect for confidential information at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.

TITLE: Special Education Secretary - Bailey ES ( Start Date 11/02/26 )
JOB STATUS: FLSA Overtime Eligible
REPORTS TO: Building Administrator
DEPARTMENT: Academics and Student Learning
PAY RANGE: Four (4)
POSITION SUMMARY:

To assist with efficient compliance to state-mandated special education procedures in the building.

Job Qualifications

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

211 DAYS (183 DAYS; 8 Paid holidays); 8 hours per day excluding lunch. Salary as provided by the Negotiated Agreement. Work year to be established by the Board.

SALARY RANGE:

$22.13/HR. - $24.46/HR.
