Job summary

Limestone County Board of Education is seeking a Resource Specialist to support both special and general education personnel serving eligible students. The role focuses on creating effective instructional environments and implementing high-quality special education programs.

The candidate should have a Bachelor’s in Special Education (Master’s preferred), Alabama SPED certification, and at least three years of classroom experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education is required or desired.
  • Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Valid Alabama teacher certificate in special education is required.
  • Minimum of three years successful classroom experience.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of special education laws and procedures.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities.
  • Clarifies and provides assistance in implementing federal, state, and system policies related to special education programs.
  • Assists with identification of eligible students and development of IEPs.
  • Monitors processes involved in special education and data collection.
  • Maintains regular contact with system SPED services and school staff to support instruction, curriculum and behavior management.
  • Provides in-service training for staff and administrators.
