Job summary

Norfolk Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Resource Paraprofessional at Westside Elementary in Norfolk, Nebraska. This part-time position supports the teacher by working with students, reinforcing instructions, and assisting with classroom activities in a generalized elementary setting.

Responsibilities include supervising students, assisting with make-up work, reading aloud, and maintaining instructional materials.

Responsibilities

• Consistent and punctual on-site attendance at the worksite.
• Works with small groups of students, as directed by the teacher, to reinforce directions or tutor in needed areas.
• Listens to students read, and reads to students.
• Helps students with make-up work.
• Assists in individual or group activities, games, flash cards, computers, etc.
• Assists students in interpreting and following directions of teacher.
• Drills to reinforce a skill the teacher has taught.
• Alerts teacher to needs of students.
• Assists teacher in checking progress of individualized study projects.
• Supervises lunchroom, playground, halls, classrooms and other assigned activities.
• Reserves instructional media.
• Assists with the physical and health needs of the children.
• Does miscellaneous typing and filing.
• Inventories books, materials and equipment.
• Assists when emergencies arise.
• Performs other delegated responsibilities assigned by teacher or administrator
